Meatballs Part II

November 21, 2008

I regret what I posted last night.  Meatballs taught me a lot.  Here is a clip that I found particularly inspiring.

Fresh and Sleasy

November 21, 2008

I finished watching the movie Meatballs a couple of hours ago.  This was premeditated.  There is this sack full of VHS in the back room of my work.  I don’t know where these came from, but I look through them sometimes.  Today was the day…. I looked inside and decided tonight I would watch Meatballs.

Bill Murray’s first movie.  I don’t know what the shit is going on in my life.. except meatballs.

Also a heavy metal dude that I work with made me laugh.  He has nicknames for things.  The other day he said he was going down to Fresh and Sleasy to pick up some food.  This made me laugh… so I made a logo for this store:

Don’t Drink & Ride

November 6, 2008

I woke up to Metro security telling me that this train was no longer running.  Inside the train was empty.  I stepped out and sat on a platform bench expecting the next train.  The two men were looking at me from inside the car…. “the station is closed…no more trains running”.  Looking around the outside of the train was also empty.  “What tiiiime is it?,” I slowly responded.  “It’s 12:45….”.

I forgot to ask where I was.  At 10:45 pm I had entered the Hollywood/Vine station, boarded a train and that’s where my night ended… until those two guys woke me up.   I had a good inclination where I was even before I got up from the bench.  It took 10 seconds of walking to see something with Union Station written on it.

The night began with beers.  Bud in a bottle.  Earlier I took the metro from my house to my friend Tom’s place near Wilcox and Franklin. We walked into some three-story building full of studios on Hollywood Blvd.  It was small and people were playing the same song over and over.  His brother was in the band. There was a banjo.  I walked outside to have a smoke.  I upped some foam out onto the pavement.

I walked out of the empty station onto the empty street.  The skyscrapers looked far away and my house was further then that.   I was so pissed off at myself.  I called myself an asshole. I checked my phone.  Out of batteries.

I ride public transportation almost everyday.  I like looking at all the people riding publicly with me on our public journey.  Like the buff guy that always wears sunglasses and a weightlifting belt.  Completely bald but with a dark black beard.  I think artificially black. Big jeans tied tight around his waist with that huge belt.  I love this guy.

I walked the opposite way.  Through Chinatown and down into Echo Park.  I was right where Cesar Chavez turns into Sunset when a bus slowed down next to me.  I asked the driver if they gave change.  The bus doesn’t but I only had a couple of dollar bills and didn’t want to lose 75 cents.  He said don’t worry.  I put a dollar in and he told me to hop on.  I told him he was the best bus driver ever.  I loved this guy.

The bus made it toward Sunset and Vermont.  I walked to the front of the bus after pulling the cord. The driver asked where I was going and told him near Vermont and Beverly.  I told him about how I fell asleep and woke up at Union Station.  He laughed and gave me a day pass for free.
